I am a lecturer in human rights law, and corporate social responsibility, which examines business and human rights law as a core component. The programme is a postgraduate degree for the Irish business industry, and so it is valuable to link the Irish corporate world with developments in the field of business and human rights. I hope that learning from the conference, networking with attendees, and future contributions to developing the field of business and human rights, will progress the teaching and learning available to the programme, and contribute to new insights in the field. My key interest is to understand the interaction and overlap between business and human rights and contemporary corporate social responsibility, where soft law regulation interacts with future treaty-based regulation. A new CSR national strategy in Ireland will impact on the shape of domestic and multinational corporations in Ireland. Ireland is a key location for global multinationals, with significant reach in their supply chains, with an impact on labour and environmental issues in third countries. Research in Ireland on these developments will contribute to the further work of field to support industries becoming human rights compliant. I look forward to learning from ongoing research from across the globe, and both bringing that research to future corporate leaders at the forefront of the Irish economy, and contributing to the growth in research on business and human rights in Ireland.
